YGen to IGen Project

The YGen to IGen project was born of a desire, from both QL2 Dance and Australian Dance Party, to create cross-generational works, fruitful collaborations between youth dance companies and professional dance companies.

YGen to IGen 2022

Connecting Stories

QL2 Dance (ACT), Australian Dance Party (ACT) and Catapult Choreographic Hub (NSW) collaborated to create a cross generational, cross regional dance project inspired by the National Portrait Gallery’s exhibition Shakespeare to Winehouse: Icons from the National Portrait Gallery, London.

We invited our audiences to feel, think and be engaged with the subjects in the exhibition, these influential people in our world and across time that have shaped it, and the incredible ways artists capture their essence.

YGen to IGen 2020

In March 2020 YGen to IGen was performed at the Art Not Apart Festival. Created and driven by QL2’s young dancers, professional artists and QL2 and ADP’s AD, the piece reflected a lineage of dancers and dance makers spanning sixty years assembled as a mass movement of cross generational dance, expressing fears, hopes and imaginings of tomorrow. The work involved 60 young dancers and 6 choreographers/professional dancers.
