Make a Move - Professional Learning for Teachers

MAKE A MOVE is a graduated and holistic professional learning program for primary and secondary teachers through experiential learning of creative choreographic process.

Through movement and imagination, we experience and discover more about ourselves and the world in which we live. Creative learning develops confident, expressive and socially adept students who can problem solve, collaborate, think and communicate. This is increasingly important in this age of innovation.

Teaching educative and engaging dance will develop these skills and attributes as well as increasing health, well-being, and achieve dance outcomes in line with the Australian Curriculum - The Arts.

Our MAKE A MOVE program integrates the learning activities of teachers and students, allowing an engagement in dance as education, with a depth of ideas and creativity, enabling individual expression, much more than learning a routine.

Through the seminar and in school workshop, teachers work alongside professional dance artists allowing action learning, support and evaluation. MAKE A MOVE emphasises links between dance and other subjects, inquiry areas or cross curricular priorities (eg. science or sustainability and dance), maximising time, connecting ideas and allowing for a diversity of students’ learning.
