Hot to Trot: QL2‘s Quantum Leapers leap into choreography

Thanks everyone for coming! Two full houses.  Next up: On Course!

QL2 Dance presents Canberra’s 2017 Quantum Leap dancers in their own short dance works.  Artistic Director Ruth Osborne says “This project is an important starting point in the development of choreographic practice and of leadership potential. They are working hard to create meaningful contemporary dance — beyond just doing moves or steps to music, and really engaging some of the processes they have been part of when they have been in projects like This Poisoned Sea. The content will be all their own.”

A month of go go going… Alison, QL2 & ADP

Ed: Alison Plevey was Acting Artistic Director of QL2 Dance for September and Octiober, while Ruth Osborne was on a Churchill Fellowship in the UK. She is also AD of QL2’s “Company in Residency”, ‘Australian Dance Party’.

“As I surface after a wonderfully busy, rewarding, challenging month or two at the helm of QL2 Dance and multi-tasking with some ADP works, I am breathing in and reflecting on successes, challenges and questions, something we all tend to cycle through as artists.

Stepping into the role of the wonderous Ruth Osborne (she ventured on her Churchill Fellowship and is now shortlisted for ACT Australian of the Year!!) was a great honour and adventure. I have cherished and been incredibly stimulated by taking on this role which is so important to many young people, the ACT community and youth dance practice in Australia and beyond.

“I have participated in QL2 Dance’s  ‘Chaos’ project for the past 3 years, although this year due to injury, I’ve had to step out of the dancing role, and into a new one. Over the past two weeks, I’ve assisted Alison and the other choreographers during the Not Like the others rehearsal intensive as an outside eye. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside everyone throughout the creative development process, without having to perform in the theatre during production week. Continue reading
