Almost there! Boundless opens Wednesday

The dancers have been at the theatre since Sunday morning, getting the three pieces into shape for the Canberra Playhouse under the guidance of Artistic Director Ruth Osborne and her assistant Alison Plevey.  So much bigger than working in the studio at Gorman House! Just about ready for costumes after the long haul of plotting lights and video with Guy Harding.

Boundless is made up of three pieces. One of them, Cinders by James Batchelor, has already had a life in Australia at the Australian Youth Dance Festival, and then in Bangkok, then at the Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasgow. One of the highlights of the festival was the National Youth Dance Company of England. Here’s what Matthew Hall, a dancer with them said about Cinders:

“Watching Cinders was like watching a moment from another world. It is rare to find a group of young dancers who can completely transform the time and space they are in. Such intense, dynamic and detailed choreography  – I am extremely jealous of the eight lucky performers who got to live and breath this piece.”
